Sketching out the newest character on Trixie’s Tales – can’t have a comic strip about dogs without the all-important veterinarian! He is a kind soul who loves taking care of his patients.
Trixie’s Tales circa 1940 (?)
Or maybe even earlier.
It is an antique book I found on Amazon, a collection of short stories. There does not appear to be a date on or in it. I fell for it and bought it :)
We have a winner!
Thanks to everyone who entered a name into the “Name the Kitty” contest. Via random drawing, a name was selected and kitty shall now be known as “Ruffus”!
:)
What would you name her?
If you’d like a chance to name the kitty in Trixie’s Tales, you have roughly 6 days left to throw a name into the hat. Please don’t be shy! It’s fun to see the possibilities as they come in :)
Details can be found here: Name the Kitty!
Dog Paddle
Now, I do believe Trixie is officially jealous of this fabulous Border Collie, known as Ralph. Check out these great photos of Ralph having adventures!
Now I was just thinking rather sadly about our lost summer and how there is a real chill in the air now (well for us in the northern hemisphere). The sky is softening to grey and the nights are coming earlier… Sigh. The last few summers I have been a keen swimmer and addict of all things watery. I just love it so much so here are a few pictures of me and water to bring back that summery feeling.
In the early days I wasn’t so enamored with water but got my fair share via snow – not so summery a picture I know but I really love catching the snow flakes…
There is a small creek near where we live so I often in summer go for a quick dip. It’s not deep enough to get a good swim mind you.

Who needs a last name anyway?
It occurred to me this evening that my little cartoon family does not have a last name. It has just never come up.
That has been remedied!
They are heretofore known as “The Taylors”.
Preview of this week’s strip:
Contest – Name the Kitty!
It’s been a while now since Tom and Jen rescued Kitty when she was alone in the woods and gave her a good home. She needs a proper name and I would like YOU to choose that name.
Rules:
- Nothing obscene or offensive (Trixie’s Tales is all ages and I reserve the right to eliminate entries which might not be aligned with that.)
- No longer than 7 letters – simply because I don’t want to be squeezing a long name into a tiny word bubble forever more :)
The winning name will be chosen via a random drawing.
The person who sends in the winning entry will receive a high quality print of their choice of one of the Trixie’s Tales strips, signed by moi.
If you’d like to participate, please send your entries to me no later than Sunday, January 31, 2016 (11:00 AM, U.S. EST). You can send them via blog comment, email (trixiestales at yahoo dot com), twitter (@trixiestales) or facebook (/trixiestales).
If there is a special meaning or significance to the name you enter, I would love to hear about it!
Thank you and Good luck!
Thanksgiving doggy style
We are preparing for our 11th annual After Thanksgivng Day Dinner and expecting twenty or so guests. Several of our friends and family will be bringing their dogs so I made up gift bags for them all. We’re hoping Trixie will be the hostest with the mostest and keep her party guests under control while the rest of us eat, drink and make merry!
Is that a pool or a lagoon?
Fall is upon us. Halloween has come and gone and we are preparing for Thanksgiving.
Eric (DH) spent most of this past week in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, on travel for business. I know that he spent more than a fair amount of time working, as that is how it goes in the IT world, and i was feeling sad for him until he sent the following pic, taken from his hotel window:
It was gray and rainy back here in OH and that looks like paradise to me. Hmm…guess who’s coming along next time? Little dose of sun and fun in my future, maybe? :) Ok, hoping.
Hope all is well in your corner of the world.
Dancer & Mmax – soulmates
I’m putting a good word in with this post for two dogs at the League for Animal Welfare in Batavia, OH. Eric and I are in love with Mmax. He is a Great Dane mix and a sweet, sweet soul. We’ve not interacted with Dancer much yet, but she seems very sweet as well. If you are in the area and have a place in your home and heart for two dogs that belong together, please take a look at this video:

The first time we walked Mmax, he took my heart and Eric firmly reminded me that we already have 4 furry four-leggers at home. In reality, Eric was being overly stern because he was trying to keep himself from falling for Mmax too :)
Thank you for giving them a look!
