About

Trixie’s Tales is a comic strip, featuring Trixie the domestic dog. She is comprised mostly of Black Labrador Retriever, with a hint of Siberian Husky. Trix spends her days at doggie day care and the rest of her time, she is adventuring with her guardians, Tom & Jen.

The Real Trixie

The real-life Trixie was destined to be dumped off at a dog park in December 2007, during 20F weather, at the age of 2 months. Our neighbor, Leanna, rescued her and told us she thought Trixie belonged with us. We took her in and ever glad we did.

She is now living in high style, much like her comic counterpart, hanging out with her buddies at day camp, traveling with us, and helping with all manner of household chores (her choice). Not to mention helping her housemates, Holly and Athena, remember that it is Trixie’s World.

    • Yep, you hit that one on the head! She has really turned out to be quite the good dog (although, aren’t they all?). What has really surprised me is how snuggly and affectionate she is. She was quite aloof as a puppy and I was worried that we wouldn’t really bond. As with most dogs…they just need some loving care and a chance.
      Thanks for visiting!!

  1. I’m so touched by your stories about Trixie (and by her real-life story). I had two beautiful labs, but lost both within the last year (they were both between 14 and 15 yrs. old). I can tell how much you love Trixie. So glad you took her in. She’s a lucky girl and you’re lucky humans to have such a loving girl!

    • Aw, thank you. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I know how hard it is…..it’s coming on 5 years now that I lost my sweet boy dog, Mo. He was a black lab/great dane mix and he was the kind of dog that makes people become “dog people” (ask my hubby about that…). We lost him at 9 years old to bone cancer, and I really think it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever gone through. Trix came along about 9-10 months later, and we weren’t really looking for another dog. We still had Holly, and 3 cats. But she needed us, and even though we weren’t looking, we were ready. And ever glad we did! Still, not a day goes by that I don’t think about Mosey and say hi to him, wherever he is now.
Thank you for your kind words.
